Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ: Sign-Up and Activation Issues

  • Why do I have to give my e-mail address? - Top

E-mail is the only method we have to get in touch with you. It is very important that you keep your e-mail address updated and accurate with us at all times. Not doing so could result in penalties to your account.

  • Can I use a free e-mail service for my Case's Ladder account so I can keep my real e-mail address private? - Top

Yes, but be sure that you are checking that e-mail account often. If someone accuses you of an unreported match or we need to get in touch with you, the e-mail will be sent to that address.

There have also been quite a few incidents of free mail accounts being hacked lately. The number one mistake people make is to make their "password hint" too easy or a question that the answer to it IS that user's password. The bottom line is to be very careful when using free e-mail services, but that they are allowed.

  • I didn't receive my activation key. Why? - Top

Click the "Support" link on the left-hand menu of your Ladder's page to send a mail explaining that you have not received your activation key and we will manually activate your account. Sometime the reason you don't receive your activation key is because you entered your e-mail address incorrectly when you signed up, so verify that you entered the correct e-mail and include it in your mail to us.

  • I signed up on the Ladder first and now the name I used isn't available on my gaming service. What can I do? - Top

You should create your account on the gaming service first, since name choices are so limited there. Once you have an account there, you can click the "User Editors" link on the left-hand menu of your Ladder's page to change your Ladder name.

  • Does my Ladder name have to match the name I play my games under? - Top

Yes, on most Ladders. A few Ladders have special rules concerning this issue. If yours is one of those Ladder, you will find the specifics listed in the "Game-Specific Rules" section of your Ladder's rules.
