Ok, I realise that not only did our database catastrophe make last weeks launch a disaster for most of you, but that the process itself might be a little confusing, so we simplified it. This is what you need to do, and how it all works. Please keep in mind that we can now do a lot more to customise the services of Wildcards to the players, something the old version would never do. So the changes are not without good reason.

Step One:- Download the new version of Wildcards (v3.0) from the downloads link.

Step Two:- Register for a free account on the sign-up link. When you download the new version of the game, it will ask you if you are already a member when you instal it. If you answer "NO" it will take you automatically to the sign-up page.

When you are choosing your MEMBERNAME be aware that this is the name you will see, and others will see, in the game. If you want capitol letters in that name, make sure to use those capitol letters when you choose your MEMBERNAME when you sign-up. You use the same MEMBERNAME to login when you want to play but when logging in it won't show capitols because the login is not case sensitive. IF YOU HAVE COOKIES ENABLED IN YOUR BROWSER IT WILL LOG YOU IN AUTOMATICALLY WITHOUT YOU HAVING TO LOGIN AT ALL. You can check this when you visit playnet.com ... without logging in yourself, go to "HOME" (link at left of page) and see if it says "Welcome back !" ... if it does, and you didn't actually login manually yourself, your browser cookie did it automatically for you.

Step Three:- Getting into a game Lobby. Once you have an account, and the game is installed on your computer, go to the Wildcards page which you can always find on the "PLAYGAMES" link. You can then use the game links (Hearts, Spades, etc.) there to get to the Chat Lobby, or the "PlayNOW" link to get to the Wildcards page, for a forum visit for example, or to read Wildcards news, etc.. all games are now started from the Chat Lobby. While all players are in the same Chat Lobby, regardless of the game they choose, each game has its own lobby now. We changed the Lobby system so that they can ALL be reached from the same page, no more flipping back and forth. Lesson learned !

Once you are in the Chat Lobby of ANY game, you click "PlayNOW" (top left of screen) to get into the game lobby of THAT game whose icon is displayed on the screen (the one you chose to get into the Chat Lobby through) -OR- you can pick any other game lobby from the "Other Wildcards Lobbies" links along the top of the Chat Lobby window.

And that's really all there is to it. When you've done it a few times, it isn't as complicated as it seems. We can add lobbies and run matches in special lobbies, lots of things the old version couldn't do. If any of you have MEMBERNAMES you got wrong, this means small letters (lowercase) where you wanted big letters (uppercase) ONLY, no actual character changes, send email to support@playnet.com and I'll see if I can't get this changed for you. Remember that MEMBERNAMES cannot be more than 10 characters long, letters and numbers only. Be sure to tell us what the MEMBERNAME you actually ended up with is, as well as what it should have been, or we can't be expected to find you in our database. This will be a limited offer, it is a lot of time consuming work so be quick, I won't be able to do this after this weekend ! No promises, I'll do what I can, and this applies ONLY to cases where you got small letters and you wanted big ones, not to actual membername changes.

PS: If you enter the Chat Lobby and show up as "guest" it means you have not logged in and your "auto login" (cookies in your browser) is turned off. Just look in the black bar at the top of the page, click on "LOGIN" and use your playnet.com MEMBERNAME and password to login. You'll have to find your way back to the Wildcards Chat Lobby again after you login, but I'm looking to change this to an auto redirect soon.

WRITE DOWN YOUR MEMBERNAME/PASSWORD SO YOU DON'T FORGET IT PLEASE. B-)

PLEASE NOTE:- MEMBERNAMES are now unique and exclusive. That is why you must login through an account now. Nobody can duplicate your name, or spam you in game like they used to be able to do. You cannot change your name unless you open ANOTHER or second, third, and so on, account at playnet.com and this is part of our new security and "delete annoyers" policy. Usernames from other systems do not work, unless you register HERE with that same name as your MEMBERNAME at playnet.com and remember, we cannot guarentee everyone will get the MEMBERNAME they want because someone may already be using it, and there are no duplicates. I hope you are lucky and can fit it into 10 characters, and that no one else is already using the one you want, but I have no control over this.

Good luck and see you in the new Wildcards !

(print this out and it might help you if you're having problems logging in or following the process. Once you get it right the first time, the next time is EASY!)
