:However to complain about an integral part of the game, a part that is not just sheer stupidity like the idiotic "random dice generators" these sites use, but rather a strategic element that will allow a skilled opponent to sway the game in his or her favor, and is used in virtually every version of backgammon that you will find, is either just a major lack of knowledge or lunacy.

As I stated in my first reply to you, this is not my game of choice. I have played bg before but never on line where there was a rule about doubling. Never heard of it before or aware of the consequences of declining it until it was used on me in a tourney. So first, no this is not "lunacy" as you put it, but a lack of "knowledge" of how the game is played competively. My fault, yes.

Why am I here at this site and on the ladder? Because I want to be able to support the chisi ladder and assist in getting chisi at another site in place of won. I too do not want to go to won/flopside to play after what they did. I do go back and try to find others and play matches secretly especially when I can't find anyone in here to play with and I get tired of looking at the chat box. I am here to help the numbers get high enough to persuade this site to add chisi, plain and simple.

Yes, I understand the importance of the ladder. And sure, I would like to make it to the top as much as anyone else on the ladder. And yes I now understand there is a doubling rule and the consequences of accepting/rejecting it. And yes,
I know that I have to decide whether to "give up" by accepting the doubling and lose only 1 point or accept and maybe win 2 points.

All I have said is that I don't like not being able to decline the doubling without automatically losing a point. If I realze that there is no possible way to win and I am so far behind, I will select the option to "give up." I just don't like being made to give up if I decline the die.

My motto in life is "never say die." As a cancer survivor, this motto has become even more an integral part of my life. I want to see things thru to the end.

:It's just that when you sit there and complain about the use of the cube during our match, and in here, it really bothers me.

You are just irritated today because you initiated the doubling, thinking you had the advantage and was going to win the round, thus the match and it backfired. All I said was that I hated the doubling option (because I can't decline without penalty). When you reminded me that I could win 2 points, and I said "big deal", I really meant it was no big deal to me because I was there to play for fun and was looking to play more than a couple of rounds, especially since it takes so long to find someone to play with. And also, I wanted another round and chance at playing with you and wasn't ready for the match to end. (This was complaining in the game? A statement of how I feel about it - I didn't berate or accost you for using it, I made 2 statements. - 1 - I hated the option and 2- big deal)

Yes, playing only 1 round to a match would surely solve the doubling issue for me, but as you pointed out, lucky dice in one round doesn't prove you are good. Lucky dice in 2 rounds back to back doesn't either.

To me, that doubling thing is just a cocky way of saying I am going to win so give up. Now as I think about it, perhaps it is a good rule after all because it sure takes people down a peg when they don't win.

At this site, I do feel like a fish out of water. I am playing a game I am not skilled at, only because I am not into arcade style games. I am lonely for the ladders room. I made it plain that I knew I was "whinning."

Sorry that you took this all so personal. I am sorry that you lost the match.

(BTW - if a person is skilled, why do they need to "sway the game?")
