I was at a dinner party tonight and a question was posed and everyone turned to me, the "word person", for the answer. I didn't have the foggiest, but I said that if I posed it in the forum, I'd have the answer within the hour. Don't prove me wrong!
So, the question is, what is a group of swans called? All I could come up with was a covey, but that's for quail or partridge. Another thought was a gaggle, but that's for geese. Although, swans are close to geese, I thought their group should have a more elegant name, like a soignee of swans. Is it just a gaggle, like the geese? Or do they have a special name for their group? Anxiously awaiting your reply.
