The world of live pinochle lost a player today – he didn’t play online, he didn’t much care for computers.

I can’t recall how many years he played in the Cleveland tournament, but I would hesitate a guess of it being most if not all of them. He played in all three Detroit tournaments, and this year was his first time playing Las Vegas.

He had numerous names, some formal, some informal, but for just about everyone that met him, he simply was called Dirty Harry.

He wasn’t bold, loud, outspoken, or anything of that nature which would stand out to make you remember him.

Harry was unique. He was a humble man, exemplified a rare breed of warm politeness, and always wore the coolest hats.

You didn’t actually have the option of remembering Harry after you met him, it was just one of those automatic things your brain did.

When I was asked to give him a ride with my wife and myself to the Detroit tournament this year, I tried to get out of it. I don’t enjoy road trips and I didn’t want any other factors added to my already anxiety filled trip.

It took about 5 whole minutes for Harry’s personality to fill the car, and it made the entire trip great – both ways.

Those that had the opportunity and honor of meeting Harry can sit there and nod your head simply saying – yep, that was Harry, and he simply was one cool cat!

I’ll miss ya pal.
