I haven't joined the Jeeps ladder, but I have played the MOP. My perception is that the format simply tends to exaggerate the differences between a average round and a good round. I'm not sure the Jeeps score accurately reflect what happens on the course. 10 points for the longest drive vs only 15 points for a birdie? A close shot, resulting in a short bird or eagle, and the points are piled on like there was no tommorrow! Of course, hit a bad shot, and not only do you have a more difficult shot coming up, but the points are ripped away like so much cheap Christmas wrapping. I always felt bad shots were their own reward.

I just played a one-on-one Jeeps round, at my host's suggestion. The stroke card said I beat him by just 4 strokes. The Jeeps card had me up by over 220 points. Based on the Jeeps scoring , he could not have won the game on the last hole even if he had dropped an eagle and I had triple bogied.

Anyway, I have my misgivings about the MOPs. Anyone care to say what you like about this format, other than "every shot counts"? I'm not critical of the players who like it, I'm just curious about the appeal.
