On both sides of this argument... even though we're unsure of what the other side is.

If you're healthy and can donate blood, that would be some contribution that we as North American civilians could make to help those who survive and need medical attention.
I heard there may blood donation centers here in Canada because of this tragedy, and I wish to contribute if I can.
