From everything i have heard, and from the people that I have talked to, AOL still has pay to play backgammon on their site and the new EA site is supposed to stay free. I don't think anyone will know for sure until the site is out of it's beta testing. I have played backgammon at probably 10 other sites in the past week and the EA site is definitly the best alternative to Won for now. There are usually lots of people there during primetime and the tournaments that I have seen are drawing around 60-65 people. No harm in playing there and hoping for the best as far as it staying free. If you are just looking for quantity of players Zone or Yahoo is probably your best bet, but if the graphics and overall quality of the game is of more importance to you, then EA is the best I've been able to find.

I'm still wondering why Cases can't open their own gaming site and just forego all this surfing on our part to find acceptable gaming sites. Come on Cases find some sponsors and put together a site for us. I'm sure that you would see overwhelming support from all your ladder members.

One last thing, if you do decide that the EA site is a place you want to see the ladder at, please write an email to Cases and let them know. The TD's and ladder members who are already here are eager to get the ladder up and running. Let Cases know that you will support the site by dropping them a note.
