I have been in four tournaments lately where there have been several unranked players who repeatedly have held up the tournaments cause they did not understand the fundamentals of the game. One person had never heard of a Backgammon and the other did not know what the Crawford rule was, then they did not know what the cube was for !!! Grrrrrr... Come on folks I don't mean to be picky but learn the game and play in the social rooms before attempting to play in a tournament. These people took time away from the TD as well as held up the rounds of play and it's not fair to the others in the tournaments. There are plenty of websites that will teach you the game and I don't think it's too much to ask that you know the rudementary funtions before you play a match online, let alone join a tournament. I personally think a requirement should be put in place for players to join a tournament. That person should have a minimum of games logged on here before being admitted to a tournament. Time and time again I have seen TD's start explaing the game to players and that should not be their function. As a courtesy to other players and to the TD's I believe knowing how to play should not be too much to ask. Just my opinion.
