A question was raised in my tournament tonight but the person who asked me the question did not stay for a full answer, so here it is.

question - are there rules for taking a long time to bid

my answer - NO

questioner - there should be
questioner - good night

Now that is not the full story folks. None of us like slow play. However, we all have computers with different capabilities and sometimes things happen in our house that take our attention away from the game. Some of us have physical limitations. There are all sorts of reasons someone might not bid as fast as you do.

As a TD I would appreciate it if I am called to the table if there is slow play or slow bidding. Sometimes that speeds things up just having the TD watch.

Another thing that works really well is to be considerate about your opponents - both as a bidder and player and as an opponent who gets frustrated by slow bidding or slow play.

If you seriously think your opponents are up to something shady - gather your evidence and submit a support mail and let the people in charge of running the ladder handle things.

In any event - I hope everyone will just chill out a bit and have some fun playing pinochle.
