This week has been a horrible nightmare for my family here in Galveston County, but we were very blessed compared to our neighbors and about 10 million people here in Texas. I have 3 grown children here within 2 miles of me, but we couldn't get to each other due to flooded streets. My daughter, Elena, was in a hotel until Tuesday when she decided she had to get to me. She zigzagged all over Harris and Galveston counties because every road is flooded in parts, but she got here and brought me food. She was worried my food might be spoiled because power was out. Being without lights, TV, A/C,computer, fridge and stove was uncomfortable, but just an inconvenience compared to millions of Texans. Water around me was over 3 feet high, but did not get in my house. I read the book "When Calls the Heart" that my favorite TV series is based on and am working on a big jigsaw puzzle. My connection to the outside world was Mary Nelson and I prayed my cell phone stayed charged enough for her calls. I knew she would send help if I didn't answer. Thank you all for your prayers which are still needed and appreciated. Still raining hard, very windy, and much more flooding expected.
