This is probably going to ruffle some feathers, but I’ve noticed we are taking very long BRB’s during a tourney.
In the old days when we knew we needed a BRB we announced it while the hand was in play and as a courtesy another player would not play their last card so we could take our BRB.
Since we’ve become a tourney league, and I’ve been able to participate in more of the tourneys than in the past, I’ve noticed that this is no longer the case, and we get up and go at all times during the round, and that many of them exceed 5 minutes. Sometimes we need multiple BRB’s during our 8 hand round.
What is your feeling on this? I know life happens, and we can’t always control our bladder, or what our pet/child just knocked over while we are playing, or someone just showed up at our door, but shouldn’t we be courteous to the other players and stand when we know we’re going to be gone longer than a minute or two? Regardless of our reason for our BRB, we’ve not only delayed the game, but we’ve also delayed the progression of the entire tourney. The TD starts the timer on us when we don’t set/sit in a timely manner, and when through no fault of our own, we’re booted from the lounge, shouldn’t the same rule apply to our BRB’s?
