i'm not at all certain why we would contemplate catering to the singles ladder mentality of people who have never played on this ladder and, apparently, would refuse to support it unless it was on their terms.

obviously, the number one reason teams have to wait so long for a match is because of the low number of teams we have. if there were more teams, there would be less waiting.

that aside, the waits are exacerbated by the number of habitually and often selectively slow players we have. perhaps if they would make playing the game a priority rather than whatever else they are doing at the same time, things might flow smoother. also, and all too often, teams will challenge for a match, then take up to 3 or 4 minutes to actually sit at the tables to start the match. then we have to factor in the
inherit slowness of the site itself. i still find it odd that another site with identical graphics can be so much faster than the shack. these are things which can, and should, be worked on to speed things along.

given the way card distribution is programmed here, it makes absolutely no sense to change to a one stake format. teams should at least feel that they have a chance to win the match for reasons other than they happened to sit in the right seat for one game. hell, even the nimrods who hung out in the rated rooms at the zone understood that the optimum method of determining a winner was a 2 out of 3 format. i fail to see where the "fun" would arise from sitting for one game getting crap hand after crap hand while the opp breezes down the board with hands that look as if they had rummaged through the deck picking their hands, then being forced to retire from the match. nope..this is not fun. never will be.

and if this is the only way we can think of to make the ladder grow, i wish you all the best of luck ... you'll need it. neither i nor the gang will be there.
