as i recall, when pattie and i were looking around for a way to resurrect the team ladder after the zone folded, we had a much different in mind...the major difference being that matches would go to the first team to request after announcing they were ready. what we ended up with, thanks to the infinite wisdom of the people at case's, is really a bastardized version of the ladder we once knew. while there are no gsr's here, it is a fact that we are allowed to play the same team 3 times in one night. so here we are...playing on a ladder with half a dozen teams give or take, depending on which teams show up and, of course, how long teams remain on the ladder.

to my mind, and i have said this several times before, it is completely ridiculous that the #1 and #2 teams should play each other repeatedly as long as there are other teams in the room who haven't had a chance to play period. tonight it was 4thstreet... on other nights it has been other teams. it doesn't seem to be a consideration for the #1 and #2 teams (at times)
that we are all here to simply play. obviously, being #1 on a ladder of the aforementioned half dozen teams is very important to some...even though they claim it isn't. so be it. if you think that playing a second match in order to become #1 when there are teams looking to play and don't have the chance is a proper way to run this ladder then you are welcome to it.

as it stands, i haven't yet made a concrete decision as to whether 4thstreet will continue to be a part of this ladder or not. i must admit that, at the moment, i really don't care one way or the other although i know i would miss playing most of the people here were we to withdraw. i guess what i would be looking for is some sort of positive declaration by all teams involved that we really don't give a damn about rank and accept that it is important that all teams who show up to play should be afforded the opportunity to do so regardless of rank or any other considerations. failing this, i really cannot see how this ladder will survive...i can tell you for certain it will be one team shorter.
but, of course, i know that some of you will disagree...

i guess we all have to decide what we really want here.
