I think for the very first time in my adult life I have found who I am and exactly where I am supposed to be. I met a wonderful man nearly four years ago, and nearly three years ago we got married in Vegas. Married life hasn't always been a box of chocolates, but we work through the problems and find a great deal of pleasure and contentment in the knowledge that being together is the right thing for both of us. We bought a new home over a year ago, and we have a Boxer named Ollie who loves us as much as we love him. Adam is doing well for himself, and when I look at him I still have hard time believing he is almost 23 years old. He has grown into a very fine young adult, and I am so proud of him.

I hope your boys are healthy and doing well. I only had one call from Suzanne after you left, so I don't know a thing about which kids (other than Nathan) who have graduated, and what any of them are doing now. It's not something I think about often, but your boys do cross my mind from time to time. What also crosses my mind is the terrible pain I know you felt/feel by being separated from them by such a long distance. I don't imagine the trip from Tennessee to Indiana is much easier than the trip from Washington or California.

Anyway, I hope you are in a good place too. After all this time, I have let go of the bad feelings I had toward you. And though I am far from a Bible thumper, I have learned that there's a plan for all of us, and the road for that plan is littered with good times and bad. It's the bad that makes us grow and appreciate the good, but it's the constant balancing act between the two that teaches us that relying on a higher power is our way to muddle through the mire.

Hope your holidays are happy, and that you have the chance to see your kids.

Mrs. Erickson

: Tom, you are often misunderstood and we have had our disagreements; but I believe you are basically a decent guy. Happy Holidays to you and your family.

: Mrs. Erickson, I know that things didn't end up very well between us and I am sorry things turned out the way they did. It's funny, though, how we end up where we are in life as a result of everything good and bad that happens. My hope is that you are in a good place now.

: Diane, as always you are a class act.

: Merry Xmas and Happy New Year

: Tom

: P.S. Has anyone seen my Christmas ornaments?
