: I thought it would be nice to share my thoughts on GameSpy... : <center><b>I LIKE IT!</center> : I think it works very well. After just 1 day of using the software I became familar and felt very comfortable. : The best thing I noticed immediately is that I did not have to fight with logging into .NET. It is very nice to click on an icon and be in risk immediately. I already spoke with the programmers and have requested that when I log in I appear in the risk lobby and not some random gamespy general lobby ... that is stupid but will be fixed soon I hope! : I also like their version of Zone Friends ... having the list right there is really convinient and it always works and I do not have to fight with Zone Friends being on let alone working. Again a minor flaw ... if you dont pay the $20 you only get 10 names on your list ... infinate names after you pay the $20 ... : Well speaking of the money ... I think the $20 is fair for those who play every week like I do ... (of course I almost daily) but I think if you play each week you will find it nice to spend the $20 and get the full registered benefits ... : 1) Priority Tech Support : 2) Upload your own picture (very cool) : 3) Unlimited Names on Buddy List : I have already used the Tech Support to get in my enhancement requests ... they have responded fast and it seems good so far ... no whether anything I ask gets implemented that remains to be seen. : Check out my picture ... its cool and any 96 by 96 .jpg can be used (just make sure you dont use a naked girl or they will shoot you fast) : I have added every prior zone risk player name that I have seen to my buddy list. A perfect way to keep track of all the players at risk. : Another major nice feature I noticed was that my Monopoly Game (version old) works awesome in GameSpy and no place else ... prior I had to log into a Westwood lobby to exchange IP addresses and find players ... in GameSpy it syncs up players who have similar software and allows network launching built in so I can now play my Monopoly hassel free ... So although I only play risk mostly just having that occasional option to play something else is really really cool ... : Another minor point but worth mentioning here while I am tooting the horn of GameSpy ... remember on zone you could not play risk with yourself and just bots ... you had to stay local and offline for that ... well in GameSpy you can launch with just yourself and play ... dont know when or why you would do this but the fact that it was possible impressed me a tad :) : Again on the small side but very nice ... that Ready / No Ready prior to launch is great ... I love the green and red and we dont have to ask Ready ... etc etc ... just dont press ready if you are reading email etc ... and when you press ready the host can launch when all is green ... : Lastly, I get the feeling that playing with 4 or 5 players in GameSpy works well ... I dont yet know this for certain but it does seem that having more players and less crashes is occurring. : SO IN SUMMARY I GIVE GAMESPY 9 OUT OF 10 STARS AND I TRULY RECOMMEND IT FOR ANY GAME PLAYER AND ESPECIALLY RISK PLAYERS! : I play Cribbage, Spades, Hearts, Backgammon, Euchre, Monopoly. : I also love them little maps off to the right that show where the players are from ... really cool ... so great job GameSpy and I look forward to some day just showing up in the risk lobby with no additional clickings ... : Jaws22 (Steve) : P.S. For anyone who does not yet know I have set up many Risk Players with a Router and since it can be a tad trickey just wanted to make it public that for a small paypal fee I will hand walk you through all the steps and provide the best version of network risk (FULL MAP 1024) so you can see almost everything with no scrolling around ... perfect for them mission players who cannot afford to miss a lonely man down in madagascar :) : P.S.S. For anyone who likes Scrabble, Monopoly and a ton of other great games please visit www.playsite.com ... it is by far the best game place around for no hassel instant games ... there is no downloading and you play from your browser and they work great ... I have really got into the scrabble ... really simple, fast, nice implementations and totally muss free without having to install software to play all that .. so I recommend you look there when you have a chance ... and anyone who wants to play me scrabble or monopoly I would love to play any time I can so just ask ... use that gamespy buddy list to send me a message ... : OKAY SO ENOUGH OF THIS NOVEL AND THIS HEMMINGWAY WILL HEAD OUT ...
