SOMEONE PUT THE QUESTION OUT THERE ABOUT WHICH SITE WILL SURVIVE AND GET THE MAJORITY OF BLOCKHEADS SUPPORT IF (WHEN!) PLAYLINK RETURNS...
Well...i will be coming up on the end of my TAMS 30 day trial soon, as many of us old block fans will, and I am just plain DISAPPOINTED in TAMS...not to take anything away from TAMS, herself...there is no doubt that she has worked very hard to try to correct a site that is frought with problems and dare I say, it...lacks sooo many of the simple enhancements that are not icing on the cake, but rather, the GLUE that holds a site together...I don't have to list them...for anyone who has played at PLAYLINK (which, itself, was not the do all end all of playing sites,) you already know how many of the most basic requirements to navigate through a site are missing from TAMS...starting with the most critical...HOSTING a game there...
That is what I think finally tipped the scale for me...I am not one to go whining when the game site screws me over by lag...if i am falling behind and clearly see no hope in catching up, I will concede and report...I have had to do that so many times there because of the lag that I get when I am not the host...well...I know I can't be the only one who is losing games lots of games strickly because of the lag many times...
I am disappointed that TAMS did not offer the site free for at least 6 months while she tweaked it into shape...who wants to spend $25 for a site that lacks so many basic navigation tools? It is absurd...If there is a chance that playlink is coming back, I want to put my $25 toward that(assuming they, too, might charge to play)...so when my 30 days expires, I will very likely stop playing...although if anyone checks my record, you'll see I rarely play there now because it is just no fun to lose games because the letters take so long to appear on the screen when I am NOT the host...know what i mean? lol I want to lose the way I did SO FREQUENTLY at Playlink...by being outplayed! lol
And for any of you who haven't really taken the time to notice...the setup which gives you only 5 points each time you increase the word size by one letter is too often a losing proposition itself...simply because there comes a point where you can't possibly catch up when you are behind, because the larger words, which are rewarded more bonus points at playlink are scaled in a way at TAM that works against the player who is behind...I don't know if I made that clear, but any of you math whizzes out there will get it, if you analyze the point reward compared to playlink..it can turn into a losing battle very early at TAMS, but at Playlink, there was always a chance to make a comback because of the point value they used there.
WEll...I don't expect everyone to agree with me...we have all been happy to have a place to play block for awhile...but like anything, once the NEW wears off, it is easy to see the flaws of the site...and the hosting problem appears to be one she has no plans to change...something about JAVA not working with her or something...I don't know exactly..you eggheads understand that stuff, I am sure, right? lol
So...I'd like to hear your views..what do you all think about the whole thing?
