A stellar night for me although I lost my first game and won my second. First game against a 1618 player. I open with foray for 30 pts, and she bingos naturally with layabout thru the y (nice find!). My only notable play was jerids for 64 pts. Lost 303-392.

Next game was against none other than Jere Mead. The only other time I've gotten to play him, I was the *height* of lame. This time I go first, and my opening rack was addmorv. I dump all 7. Jere told me later he'd have kept rad. He opens with LEI for 6 pts. I play PIKI/LI for 14. He bingos with EGYPTIAN natural thru the p. I make him hold, but accept it. I play BEVY to the y for 36 pts. He plays NOUN for 10, then I exchange 5. He plays OW for 22. I'm holding AEOQRSU. I play BAROQUES with the Q on dls leading to trip for 137 pts. I never lost the lead after this point. He plays UH for 22, and I return with VENTAILS natural thru the I for 67. He answers with GENERoUS (O as blank) thru the e in ventails for 66. Score now 254-212. I play MOZO to the o in generous for 28. He plays JOTA hooking ventails for aventails for 39. I bingo with SLIgHTED from the s in BAROQUES for 83. It was the only 8 from the s with DEHILT?. He plays BOD for 22, then I play KIWI for 13. He plays PENNATE natural for 68 w/the e next to the bottom right dws, which seemed very dangerous to me. I hold CIILRXY. I play LICE for 12 to the E in pennate. Apparently that blocked DRAFTED/PENNATED for 100 pts, whew! He plays FUD for 21. I play FAX for 46. He plays ACE for 32, score now 436-394. I hold the last s and play GYROS for 29. He plays PENNATED/DO for 28. I play MA for 22. He goes out with TEARER for 10, getting 4 pts for my RI. Final score 487-436. Woohoo!
