HASBRO strikes again.

Hasbro sells off the HasbroInteractive division to a foreign group. This new group is called Infogrames Entertainment.

Alphadoc and Xorro suggest email'ing Jayson Hill at JHill@us.infogrames.com to voice your comments on whatever is on your mind. I suspect this dude is just a peon within the Infogrames corporate structure and your insights will go no further than his Deleted Items box.

From what I read in the above named Website, the HasbroInteractive division was bought for about 100 million dollars. Many games were involved in the deal, Scrabble just one of them. Perhaps we can anticipate a Scrabble ver3.0 soon?

Over the years I have noticed a few real stupid decisions made by Hasbro. The introduction of the OSPD3 is high on the list. Expugating 150+ offensive words from the previous OSPD2 was a total flop. NSA fought well to get these words back and we now use OSPD2+ for tourney and club use. More formally it is called "Official Tournament and Club Word List (TWL)"

Also high on my list of Hasbro flops is the discontinuence of the deluxe scrabble board. They came out with a 50th Anniversity Edition that is pretty lame and pathetic. I wonder if the discontinuence of the deluxe board has anything to do with people cutting up the deluxe board and making some cool custom boards. I'm just guessing on this point.

On another point. SOWPODS wonders about the fate of NSA and the rating system. Vice president of NSA, John Williams, noted that NSA renews its financial and business agreements on a yearly basis with Hasbro. If my memory serves me right, SOWPODS was speculating on the prospects of what would become of the rating system. Before NSA was established, Alan Frank did all the ratings. NSA took or bought this from Alan. NSA has made some minor tweaks to his system, but it is essentially the same.

Next month I am going to a local Scrabble tournament. I hope to see some of you from Mplayer. If I am real lucky, maybe that kid with the underbite will be there. If he is there, I will get a digital pic of him and send it to lori G.
