I dasagree with Martin because the hard AI actually usually will pick and choose 1 player,
not both, and put pressure on him. This might not be so bad if the second player had to
kill the AI too, but he doesn’t and can simply focus on the other human player. You see,
if the unlucky player tries to fight back against the AI, he will weaken himself and leave the
second player to build him empire, dooming himself. If he doesn’t fight back, he will be
hurt badly by the AI. So basically every tournament game I play ends up being the 2
human players attacking each other, leaving the AI along, even almost ignoring it completely. Do you know how many games ive played that have ended with me and my opponent having just a few, weak contries left, and the AI simply eliminates one player first? That is simply the same thing as a coin toss. That kind of thing is in no way a
strategy game. I think if a tournament says its 1 vs 1, then it should be 1 vs 1, but with the
AI on hard its just impossible to have a flat out match between two people. With the AI on normal, the AI tends to play more for itself (try it sometime on single player and see how the AI acts), and not pressure individual players, like the hard AI. If you give it a try, say a few tournaments, I’m sure you will agree that a 1v1 game with AI on normal promotes a more 1 on 1 basis game. Isn’t that what the tournaments are all about?
