: In a recent match I was told that "sitting
: out" a turn - not attacking, that is - is
: illegal. So I attacked, and lost the game due
: to a loss of armies at a crucial time.

: But I just finished a match in which my
: opponent sat out turns regularly, to my
: great disadvantage. When I asked, he laughed
: and assured me it was legal.

Legal but very unfair. If you notice the other player getting aussie, either attack right away or start building and hiding men.
