I would like to make a few comments about all of this "formal" talk of late. Formals are a necessary part of the ladder, and are here to stay. Like them or not, some people use them, some do not. If you choose not to use them, that is your choice, but I think its highly unfair to get so outraged because someone formals you. A lot of you say people just have to ask, that is very true, but sometimes that is not possible either, for a myriad of reasons. Posting here about your dislike of them will only encourage others to formal you as well, just out of spite.
