hmmmm....I see why u could be mad Del, yes they have changed it. Personally i think it looks good (graphics wise), I havent actually played it yet tho.

I also thought that the 2k Meter is slower than the 99 one ?? Maybe im wrong ;)

I will still be playing 2000 as well, but will go out and buy 2001 just cause everyone else will have it and will be hard to get a game just like when 2k came out those short 12months ago! ;)

WELL DEL, I HOPE MICROSOFT READ THIS AND DECIDE TO CHANGE 2002 BACK TO HOW IT SHOULD BE!!!!!!!!

: Well now . . . I've had the pleasure of trying out Links2k1 and here goes . . . my opinion!

: For starters I think it's gr8 that we can now add our own picture which is something I always thought would be neat to see.

: During the setup of games, you can chat with the other players on Links2k1 instead of at the beginning like LinksLS when asking everyone conditions and waiting for replies . . . you can continue and discuss it as you go along. Gr8 feature!

: On Links2k the swing meter is different. You can move it around your screen (another good feature). BUT, it’s slower and looks nothing like the original meter that has been around for many years on LinksLS.

: The course designer remains to be seen! I haven't really played with it too much, so hard to say until other players get involved with it.

: Now how I feel about the rest of Links2k1 . . . I think it’s sad that they have hacked OUR game! YES OUR GAME! For many years I have played LinksLS and choose it over other interactive golf games because of the design and many features it ALREADY had. Links 98 was the start of the FUN for me.

: Then came 99 . . .this was a little more challenging but the game pretty much stayed the same. The swing meter became faster. You could also spectate games. I’ve really enjoyed being able to join other games and not have to play . . . just sit and watch ;) You could hear other wavs being played by other players and if you choose not to, you could turn them off. You could have private chat with certain players if you choose. I could go on and on about the many features of LinksLS99 when it first came out.

: Then came LinksLS 2000 (Microsoft) . . . Microsoft kept it the same but the Direct Clean up was a nuisance . . . but we managed to get used to and tolerate it. They added some new courses that you could still play on 99 but not on 98 . They added a few more that you needed for VGA but you could ONLY play them on 2k (ut oh, looks like the beginning of something to me). The game was the same with all the features that 99 had . . . that helped us to still enjoy the game.

: Now we have a new version . They have taken some things from previous Links and made it appear to be similar . . .it’s not! Sure looks a lot like Microsoft Golf to me (one of which I gave up to play LinksLS). They have taken the realism out of the courses. To me, I liked the realistic course look . . . now it’s rendered (YUCK). Yes the anis look real, but you can’t use our old anis. I, for one, am in love with Davis . . . lol... BTW...have you seen Microsoft Golf 2001 (looks like LinksLS to me )?!

: AND NOW . . .for the really big disappointment! Well, you know all those neat courses and anis we’ve collected over the years? USELESS! I, for one, have spent a great deal of money over the years to have every course LinksLS ever came out with . I even bought Links Xtreme because of the new animations they had (you gotta admit, it was a little bit of fun). When I don’t feel like playing the game I still load up my Xtreme for target practice (all it was really good for). To say the least, my collection was complete as I’m sure lots of you can say that as well. The only reason I invested my money into all the added courses and such was because I loved the game! I loved the look, the feel and not to mention the MANY gr8 people I’ve met thru it! Some of which I’ve played with for four years now.

: I can’t figure out why Microsoft just couldn’t leave OUR game alone and just add their features to it. In my opinion, that’s why they bought out ACCESS...ACCESS had something that was too MUCH competition for Microsoft Golf (being it was the HOTTEST interactive golf game around). Now they have us hook, line and sinker only because they know our loyalty to LinksLS will have us running out and buying it. And yes, I’ll probably be like the rest of you and run out and buy it just because it’ll be the thing to do (that’s what they’re depending on)...They’ve destroyed our game and to be honest, WE’VE allowed it to happen by supporting a product they have ruined! And YES, that’s how I feel...They have RUINED it! The LITTLE few features they have added does not make up for what they have done to the game. I truly feel that if I wanted a change from the old look I would have purchased other brands of interactive golf games.

: Well I’ve rambled on long enough. I just couldn’t stand all the hype of how gr8 the game is going to be...Soon enough people will see when they’ve wasted their money what I’m talking about and I do hope if you find yourself with the same opinions, that we start to express our voices to Microsoft and let them know that we won’t allow them to control what they want us to have any longer. Which is little upgrades, destruction of a perfectly good game for way too much money. I, for one, will probably not play Links2k1 and stick with the old versions of LinksLS, the best interactive golf games still, and the reason I purchased them for many years to begin with.
