I fully understand all your concerns, I will answer your questions in the order you ask them (I have inserted each question before the answer).
The Ladder itself, Wordox (VU Games), is safe, Case's will NEVER close it, all that is needed is a new place to play and call 'home', that is the real issue. (More on that later).
What happens to those that are not willing to pay ...but have a gold...platinum or diamond membership?
Every member be they Diamond, Platinum, Gold or Free, will be safe if we have no place to play for a while. Diamond, Platinum and Gold members will never, ever purge. Those who decide to let their Premium membership lapse to Free, will then have 255 days from the day that it drops in status. Free members have 255 days of safety from the day they last played. Nobody will be kicked out. This is a Case's Ladder NOT Hoyle (even if Case's are going to be handling Hoyle from now on, it is a separate issue).
will Td's that dont pay have to resign...or will we be automatically kicked out?
The TD's will likewise be safe, they will probably be all put on AE (Active Exempt) until fully active again. Again, nobody will be kicked out.
sorry but i do not believe that the transition to pay to play will go smoothly ...there will be casualties along the way.
If you had read your Newsletters and the TD mails you have been sent over the past few months, you will have seen that the vote link that Lainy kindly set up for all members to have their say, came back with a resounding 71% saying 'No' to paying for using Hoyle. As things stand the hope is we will find a new 'home'. So, there will be no effect from a transition if only a few wish to pay to play.
i would love to see another solution to pay & play cos i will not pay twice to play & that is that .
The payment you currently make to Case's Ladder is for that alone. The payment for Hoyle, although appearing on the surface to emanate from Case's will soley be for Hoyle.
Now, back to the first issue. After many, many hours of searching for for another site to play by many of us, another avenue opened up. For some months there has been contact (via a third party) with a programmer. The hope being that he can put Wordox on his own site, where he already hosts other games. Once set up correctly, it would need proof testing etc before a final move could be even considered by the Ladder. So far, everyone has been told exaclty the same, that 'We have a finger in a pie'. That is how I would have liked it to stay, until we have more concrete information to pass on to everybody. What I have now said, is a little more, and, it would be much appreciated if that is the way it remains until more is known.
Programming, sorting out the encryption and debugging can take months (and has taken months so far), at present, when we last heard it was at the debugging stage. There is no point in anybody trying to and find out any more. History on this very Ladder has told me that a little knowledge is dangerous - even if it is concern for the future of the Ladder one has at heart. I don't want to see any 'fall guys' this time around, and beleive me, this would happen if we gave you empty promises.
So, my response on this is something but - nothing. Until it is ready for everyone to help to test it, this is all you are going to be told for now. By leaving you with the minimum amount of information possible - no fingers can be pointed, no cruel words spoken and no false accusations bandied around.
We miss you loads too Micky! - I won't use your word!!!! but, we miss you loads!! We are doing, and will continue to do, our utmost to keep the FSW family together you need not worry about that!
I hope this has answered your concerns. We all want someone to wave a magic wand and 'Hey Presto!' we have a nice new home. Maybe that is what we will get :) .... With patience!
