(Ranked 13 on Spades (Flipside) Ladder) on June 11, 2003 at 04:34:26:Please, please all try and check out the details of tourneys in advance. Okay sometimes I will set up a tourney on the spur of the moment but for partner tourneys they are made in advance.
It is VERY frustrating when I come in to host a partner tourney and players are sitting there and not registering until after the start time. Last night I was supposed to host one at 6pm est but it didnt actually start until nearly an hour later. This meant that Fierce had to cancel his 7pm tourney. I also have to be in the room before the start of a tourney and so it was over an hour before I managed to host.
With the 5 hour time difference it is very frustrating for me as I would prefer to host at earlier times but I stay up as I accept that most of you cant be in to play a partners until at least 6pm est. If players know that 6pm est is not a good time then speak up!
The other problem with starting tourneys late is that new players are put off. This ladder needs more players and it doesnt help when players show an interest, sign up and then sit for an hour waiting to play.
IN FUTURE, PLEASE NOTE THAT WHEN I HAVE A PARTNERS TOURNEY SET UP AND THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH PLAYERS AT THE TOURNEY START TIME I SHALL CANCEL IT - players have enough time to sign up before then. Don't worry if you do not have a partner before coming to room - if you know you want to play and can be there then make a team in advance - this can always be changed before playing and this gives me an idea of how many players are going to try and be there.
Sorry for what may seem a negative post but in fact it is meant to make you all more pro-active!! I do this because I enjoy hosting and like being a part of this great group but I could as easily host elsewhere and pop in now and then to play so PLEASE help me to help you :)
