Hi All -
First of all I would like to say - well said John! (I too will be posting this on both ladders). I find myself in the same confusing predicament (sp?).

I found the FS Double ladder just by chance while surfing the internet. Then when I went into the pairs 2 room, I found many of the people that I used to play with in the WON days. I was warmly welcomed back into the folds of friends from the "old ladder" and found it quite nice to have been remembered as a player and friend. And as many say.... everyone has a story and here is mine...

After the folding of the WON ladder, and the Friends ladder was created, I joined, and while in the process of trying to get my gold status moved to that ladder by cases, I was purged. When I tried to re-join, the ladder had already been made private, probably due to the imposter problem at that time, and I was asked by the admins. to send an e-mail request to the admins. to be added into the membership, and for whatever reason, there was never a response nor an invitation to join. I sent one more email after a week or so and still, no response. Unfortunately, that left a really bad taste in my mouth. I really wasn't interested in playing in the social rooms after playing with the skilled players in the ladder room, so I did other things with my time and stayed away from the online game. (I did spend several hours playing against the computer characters from the CD, but that too wasn't as good as real "live" competition with all the friends I had made.)

I was so excited to find that Flipside was opening the ladders again with cases, that as soon as I saw it (just a week ago) I signed right up. Then when I came into the pairs room for the first time, I was encouraged to join the now public "Friends" ladder. So I did. It gave me an opportunity to get my pants beaten off me by the skilled players I used to play last summer and beat the pants off the new ladder members (who will soon be beating me, so i take the wins when i can -- lol :-) ) It was wonderful to be back playing again!

Then, as I was reading the forum on the Friends ladder, I clicked the newsletter link to L2's page. (I design websites on the side and thought I would check it out, plus see if there was any news that I as a player should know about.) When I saw that L2 was in need of some help (due to her own time constrictions) I offered to help her with the newsletter website and she was glad to get the help. This was so exciting.

Then came more excitement later in the week... I was asked to be a TD for the fs ladder. This meant alot to me because right before WON was taken over by flip, I had applied to be a TD and it was never realized, so I jumped at this chance too. I had played in tournaments from both leagues throughout the week, so I figured that everyone did the same. I guess I was being naive thinking that pretty much everyone on the Friends league was also on the fs league and those that play in tourneys would support the ones I held as I support the ones on both ladders.

Now I am a bit concerned. I sat at a table last night for 15+ minutes without a single person coming to my table to play. (I played with one player prior to that after we finished a FS tourney and we played friends games). Then I sat and sat and sat.... was this because I was both FS and Friends? It was quite discerning.

Now I read that there are "competition" problems between the leagues. What can be done to resolve this problem? I like being on both ladders and I like the fact that I can host tournaments FOR EVERYONE (why NOT be on 2 or more ladders?). Isn't that the purpose of these leagues... for everyone to compete, have fun and make new friends???

I too would welcome responses.
Julie (aka GalBowler - StrikingLady)
