MAY IS A BLOOMING!

Hi to all Case’s Cribbage (VU Games) members - Welcome to all new players and hello to our loyal oldies.

This May Newsletter is brought to you by your Cribbage (VU Games) Op and TD Team.

kaz-is-ere (LeadOp and TD)

CribFool (LadderOp and TD)

A-la-Viv (Op Manager and HTD)/p>

LittleN7GKids (HTD) & (LadderOp in training)

Tollerdog (TDM)

Welcome from the Op and TD Teams

We as an Op and TD Team for Cribbage (VU Games) are volunteers. We give this time because we think that this ladder and the players are worth it. So if you see us in the lobby please do say hi to us and join us in our games / tournaments.

The Op Team is here to help with any problems you may be having with the site or any queries. Some queries may be answered in the lobby in pm (private messaging) but others may need to go through the support link. This can be found on the main cases page at www.igl.net/fscrib On the left hand side of this page is a list of features go to the heading “support” and click “contact us”. We will answer you as speedily as possible.

Don’t forget no question is too silly so don’t be afraid to ask.

I would like to say Congratulations to CribFool on finishing his classes for LadderOp and to LittleN7GKids for starting her Op training. It will be great to see her in Green too.

I am sure that with the three of us this will be a great OpTeam.

CHANGE TO PURGE RULES.

I should like to thank Viv, our OpManager for getting the automatic purge time increased.

Please read these rules carefully they have changed from 21 days to 90 days which I am sure will make a lot of players happy.

INACTIVITY

If you haven't played a match in 90 days you will be automatically removed for inactivity in order to keep the Ladder as dynamic as possible and give everyone a chance to move up.

Removal for inactivity is completely automated. No exceptions are made to this rule. Our players want an active league full of opponents who can be easily found.

TOURNAMENTS

Tourney of Champions - -Saturday 10th May 3pm -- S/E 121

Tourney of Champions - -Sunday 11th May 7pm -- S/E 121

BATTLE OF THE SEXES - TO BE CONFIRMED BUT POSSIBLY THE FOLLOWING WEEKEND.

Here are some of the games and the rules that might possibly be played on this ladder

If you are interested in playing some of these games then let us know via the lobby or our forum at www.igl.net/fscrib .

GAMES

121 S/E - This is a regular single elimination game.

D/E – Double elimination. You lost two games before you are eliminated. It is often the case that after you have lost your first game that the next game (the lower) will be to 61 points but, of course, the rules can vary according to the TD hosting.

61 – As implied this is to 61 points only.

Toss – This is where one is required to discard / toss the designated card to the crib. If you keep the toss card in your hand you are eliminated from the tourney. Naturally if you have three or four of that “toss” card one is only able to toss two to the crib and one is not penalized as a result.

Short-Track – The idea of this tournament is to win two points. The first person to win two points wins the match. One point can be gaining at passing 61 first and another at passing 91 first. If both players gain a point then play continues to 121.

Lowball – In this tournament one has to try and LOSE and get rid of the “good” cards. The idea is to lose the game in order to win and in this instance the drummer is one’s best friend. Lowball can be set by the TD to 61, 91 or 121 and it is the person who does NOT get to this who wins.

Swiss – In this type of tournament one can play in all the rounds that are set and one is not eliminated as a result of losing. This type of tournament continues until there is a winner and may be anything from three to six rounds.

True Swiss - As with Swiss one can take part in all the rounds even if one does not win. This particularly tournament is set to a definite number of rounds and can result in more than one person being a joint winner.

Mixed Swiss and Mixed True Swiss – these are as detailed in the above two but with the added twist of each round being a different type of game.

Partner’s – As the name implies one plays with another player as a team. This tournament is either set as a “random” partners such that one does not know who one’s partner is until the tourney actually starts or a partner’s tournament where players partner each other before the tourney starts. There are different types of partners’ tourney – 121 where the teams play on two tables. The team to win two games is declared the winner. If each team wins a match then there is a deciding game to 61; , tag-team where all players are at the same table and the player with the lowest hand score has to change with his/her partner.

Cowpie – In this tournament if you land on 30, 60, 90 or 120 either by pegging or by counting your hand or crib you are out.

Go Fish – In this tournament the person who has the crib requests of his/her opponent the cards that are wanted. As an example you could ask for two fives or a six and a nine etc.

Bookends - in this tournament you must discard to the crib the first card in your hand and the last card in your hand i.e. the lowest and highest.

As this Newsletter is coming to all members. The HTD's have asked that if anyone is interested in being a TD and have been on the ladder for three months that they complete the application form to be found on the main ladder page under the heading directors. Please join the TD Team for even more fun on this ladder.

Thank you for your time
