I wish I were a dolphin
So graceful and strong
So joyous and curious
Dancing in the waves and travelling the seas.

I wish I were a butterfly
Fluttering along with the breeze
My wings full of colour
Me sitting on some flowers.

I wish I were a rabbit
So white and furry
I’d nibble my carrot
And cuddle my mate.

I wish I were the moon
So bright and round
Lighting up half the Earth
While people slumber and dream.

I wish I were a tree
Tall and strong and also protecting
Sheltering people from rain and sun
And also providing with food.

I wish I were a dog
Loyal and loving
I’d take care of someone
And love them till my death.

I wish I were a cat
Treated like a queen
I know one thing for sure though
I wouldn’t chase a rat!

I wish I were a candle
Giving light and warmth
I’d stand bright and proud
Until my wick gave out.

But since I can’t be any of those
I’ll just be me and dream
And love, learn, play and laugh
Until my time is up.
